Thoughts :     We met Alan at wine tastings and in beer gardens and the one thing we'll never forget is how his radiant smile would light up each occasion. He was full of humour, optimism and positive energy. This meant a lot to strangers in a strange land. We will miss him. Our thoughts are with Bettina.

Thoughts :     AlBob, you always had TIME to give people, be it your beloved Bettina, close family, friends new and old, your work colleagues, customers...or just passers-by. You could smile, listen, advise, joke, sing...whatever a person's need you made TIME, flashed your big smile, listened...you were there for anyone. You always treasured living in the present moment not dwelling unnecessarily about uncertain futures or past memories. These past two weeks you have clearly shown me again how important that is. Al-Maaaaatee, you've given me so much in our 33 years as mates, including this tough but REWARDING job helping to communicate with and bring together your friends. Some of the most special words I read over the last weeks were from your bro-in-law, Eddie: "Ui mai koe ki ahau he aha te mea nui o te ao, Maku e ki atu he tangata, he tangata, he tangata!" "Ask me what is the greatest thing in the world, I will reply: It is people, it is people, it is people!" "Frag mich was die schönste Sache die Welt ist, ich werde antworten: die Leute, die Leute, die Leute!" Al, for today...and always...I'll remember your smile. Like all people who saw it, remembering it will always gives me strength, guidance and joy and remind me to live in the moment and take TIME for my loved ones and friends. Thoughts :     Mir geht es wahrscheinlich wie allen anderen so schmerzvoll trauernden Freunden von Dir, man kann und will auch nicht verstehen was passiert ist und erst recht wird kein Mensch der Welt die richtigen Worte für diesen Verlust treffen können. Die Worte dafür müssen erst erfunden werden. Ich kannte Dich jetzt seit 5 Jahren und Du warst einer der wenigen Menschen, die alleine mit ihrer Präsenz und ihrer Ausstrahlung eine unglaublich positive Stimmung schaffen konnten, Du vereintest so viel Gutes in Dir, Humor, Höflichkeit, Zurückhaltung, Hilfsbereitschaft, Lebensfreude, Freundschaft, super Charakter, und und und, ich freute mich jedesmal wenn ich Dich nur sah. Ich danke Bettina, dass sie mir die Angst genommen hat, als ich mich im Krankenhaus von Dir verabschieden durfte, mach´s gut Alan, ich werd´ Dich nie vergessen. Horst + Maria W.

Thoughts :     Dear Big Al, will try my best to meet my german thinking emotions with my broken english. Your strong and bright sunbeam-/shine hit me also. And that beam gets a human addicted. Never saw you mad.There is a saying in german: some people go for a laughter down into the cellar. Your smile is forever tatooed in my eyes. Never saw you there. Am soo glad that we met the last time, unfortunately that very last. I also have to say so much thanks to Bettinas Brother, helping us to make the way into tha IC-Room, where I never was before. This room was very dark for me. Where are the bright eyes, your laughter... The last hug was still so warm... On that friday I just wanted to say hi, and had to say goodbye. My Mom, my Sister Dea, and my brother Dierk sending big XOXOXO´s from Hamburg. If you are arround,you are always for the Murnau cappucino round trip Mate ! Cheers Mate have a goody one, Joni

Thoughts :     Dear Al, The most important thing in life is the marks you leave on others hearts when you leave. I’m sure you left a lot of marks on our hearts - at least on mine. I will always keep you in my mind and never forget about your smile and laughter. Even if I only got to know you only for about a year I’m glad I did. Thanks for never giving up in teaching me how to swim - you can be sure I’ll work on my left side. I will miss you!

When ever I had you on the phone, I saw the man with the hat and that bright smile talking to us. Now I imagine the man with the hat and that bright smile is looking at us! Thoughts :     Lieber Al, wir hatten leider nicht mehr die Moeglichkeit uns von Dir persoenlich zu verabschieden, was uns sehr trifft und uns wahnsinnig leid tut. Aber wir moechten uns auf diesem Weg bei Dir bedanken, dass wir Dich, diesen einzigartigen Menschen kennen lernen durften. Wir sind zwar erst seit 1 1/2 Jahren im Triathlonverein Karlsfeld, haben Dich aber von Anfang an in unser Herz geschlossen. Al Du wirst uns sehr fehlen, immer... Unsere Gedanken sind jetzt bei Bettina, Deiner Familie und natuerlich all Deinen Freunden. Wir wuenschen allen viel Glueck, Gesundheit und Kraft fuer die Zukunft!
